Mark Kramer


Mark Kramer is Chief Engineer for MITRE’s Health Technology Center (HTC). MITRE is a non-profit working in the public interest, serving Federal health organizations including CMS, CDC, FDA, VA, and ONC. A leader in healthcare standards and interoperability, Mark created hData, the HL7 normative standard that established RESTful APIs in healthcare, several years before FHIR. Mark also originated Synthea, the widely-used synthetic health data simulator. Prior to joining MITRE, Mark developed neural networks for process control, diagnosis, and optimization, and spent 10 years on the faculty of MIT.  Mark’s publications in the areas of healthcare, data analytics, machine learning, modeling and simulation have been cited over 7500 times.
