Event info 2020

FHIR DevDays

DevDays is an event for IT professionals in healthcare, whether new to FHIR or with previous experience, to learn about FHIR in a collaborative environment. Participants will have a chance to work with the specification surrounded by others doing the same thing, side by side (virtually) with experts to answer any questions. The three pillars for DevDays are: learn, code and share.

Format & Program

DevDays November 2020 will be a virtual edition.
Just like the in-person edition, the virtual event will deliver strong educational content including keynotes and tutorials, plus specialty tracks including patient innovation, startup, and community tracks. At the upcoming edition, Let’s Build sessions will be organized where you will learn how to build a full FHIR app in 4 days (Java, JavaScript, .NET, Swift). Or you complete a FHIR specification with Forge and  FSH.
Details can be found on the schedule. The time zones will cover Europe (afternoon) and Asia-Pacific.

Who should attend?

  • Developers
  • Software Architects
  • Data Modelers and Data Scientists
  • Integration Specialists
  • Product Managers
  • CTOs and IT Managers
  • Startups in Health IT

FHIR experts deliver tutorials, guide the hands-on sessions and discuss issues one on one with attendees.

Background FHIR and DevDays

FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, http://hl7.org/fhir/) is an open source healthcare data integration standard, which is by now mandated or recommended by governments around the world, like in the US, Germany, Finland and the Netherlands, as the modern, API-based method for data exchange between care providers, payers, and patients.
HL7 (http://www.hl7.org) is the organization behind FHIR and many other well known standards as HL7 v2 and CDA. Firely (https://fire.ly/) is a Dutch startup deeply involved in the invention and development of the standard and in developing tools that bring FHIR to life.
In 2014, Firely organized the first edition of DevDays in Amsterdam which resulted in a yearly European conference in November. Since 2018, HL7 International and Firely organize a yearly event in June in the US.
