The WHO SMART Guidelines
Digital tools have huge potential to improve the reach and accessibility of clinical and public health guidelines, strengthening quality of care and accelerating progress towards national and Sustainable Development Goals. However, adapting recommendations in line with existing digital systems, as well as local policies, procedures, is a well-documented challenge. The WHO SMART Guidelines approach recognizes the complexity of this digital adaptation journey for health systems, facilities and providers. It is divided into five ‘knowledge layers’ which provide a systematic, transparent and testable structure for countries to work through. We will provide an overview the SMART Guidelines, its use of HL7 FHIR, and its application in both and low-middle income countries and high income countries.

EHDS: The missing link in healthcare’s digital transformation
The digital transformation presents an opportunity to redesign healthcare with today’s knowledge and possibilities, while also addressing part of the aging challenge. Access to patient data is essential in the primary process to realize the full benefits of digital transformation. Secondary use of patient data must be possible to develop hybrid healthcare pathways and AI applications of sufficient quality. The new European Health Data Space regulation (EHDS) was created to unlock this data at a European level and enable its use for better healthcare. The EHDS may fill crucial gaps in your strategy.

Sharing is Caring:
Why sharing health data matters in an AI-driven world
Imagine a future where AI-driven healthcare is not just reactive but predictive, personalized, and proactive. This future depends on one crucial factor: access to high-quality health data. Yet, many patients lack control over their own medical information, and data silos prevent life-saving insights. In this keynote, we’ll explore why secure and seamless health data sharing is essential for advancing AI in medicine. We’ll discuss how empowering individuals to own and share their health data leads to better diagnoses, more personalized treatments, and a more equitable healthcare system. Because in the AI age, sharing isn’t just caring—it’s life-changing.
