Deadline February 1, 2022
You are invited to share your expertise during the hybrid edition of DevDays International 2022. The deadline to submit your proposal is February 1, 2022.
You may submit proposals for any of the sessions below.
Talk | Length | Format | Description |

Tutorials | 45 minutes | online or in-person | An educational presentation focusing on a specific part of the FHIR specification, FHIR tools, FHIR libraries, or technologies that are directly related to FHIR. The time of the session includes 10 minutes for Q&A. Complimentary registration. |
Let’s Build! | 45 minutes | in-person only | The Let’s Build! sessions involve hands-on exercises and are typically a follow-up to a Tutorial. The time of the session includes Q&A. Complimentary registration. |
Community Talk: Fixed with FHIR | 20 minutes | online or in-person | A (pre-recorded) presentation of a real-life FHIR implementation, focusing on best practices and lessons learned. The time of the session includes 5 minutes for Q&A. 25% discount on the registration fee. |
Community Talk: FHIR around the World | 20 minutes | online or in-person | A (pre-recorded) presentation of a national or regional FHIR project, like a national FHIR Implementation Guide or set of standards for a jurisdiction. The time of the session includes 5 minutes for Q&A. 25% discount on the registration fee. |
Country-specific presentations
We encourage speakers to submit proposals that are related to FHIR in a specific country or region.
Speakers who cannot travel to Cleveland, OH
We welcome speakers to participate online, either live or in pre-recorded presentations. For live presentations and live Q&A, we will do our best to accommodate the time zone of the speaker.
Criteria
We select proposals based on the following criteria. Please make sure to address these criteria in your application.
Tutorials (45 minutes)
- Relevance for a broad audience
- Related to the FHIR ‘core curriculum’, important libraries or key tools that are part of the FHIR tooling ecosystem
- Educational value
- Non-commercial: no product pitches
- Expertise and teaching skills of the speaker
- Time: 35 minutes presentation + 10 minutes Q&A
Speakers receive free access to DevDays.
Let’s Build! (follow-up to a tutorial – 45 minutes) – in person only!
- Relevance for a broad audience
- Same spectrum as the tutorials
- Educational value
- Non-commercial: no product pitches
- Expertise and teaching skills of the speaker
- Time: 45 minutes, including Q&A
Speakers receive free access to DevDays.
Community Talks: Fixed with FHIR (20 minutes):
- Lessons learned from real-life projects
- Focus on FHIR implementation
- Sharing of dos & don’ts and best practices
- Non-commercial: no product pitches
- Time: 15 minutes (pre-recorded) presentation + 5 minutes Q&A
Speakers get a 25% discount on the registration fee.
Community Talks: FHIR around the World (20 minutes):
- National or regional FHIR projects explained, especially about FHIR Implementation Guides and standards for jurisdictions
- Non-commercial: no product pitches
- Time: 15 minutes (pre-recorded) presentation + 5 minutes Q&A
Speakers get a 25% discount on the registration fee.
Registration
Tutorial and Let’s Build! speakers get free access to the entire event. Community Talk presenters receive a 25% discount on the registration fee.
Please note that the DevDays team may assign your proposal to a different session type than the one you originally applied for.
Dates
The deadline for your submission is February 1, 2022. We will inform you of the outcome of our evaluation before March 15, 2022.
Hybrid: In-person or online presentation
HL7 FHIR DevDays International 2022 will be a hybrid event. When submitting your proposal, you can indicate whether you would like to present remotely or whether you intend to attend the in-person conference and present live from Cleveland, OH.
