Eric Haas is president and CEO of Health eData, Inc., which specializes in consulting on Healthcare interoperability IT and terminology. Eric holds a Master’s degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis. After over a decade of clinical practice, he began working as a terminologist and interoperability expert for several state and national public health informatics projects, developing extensive knowledge in standard medical terminologies and HL7 interoperability standards. He is part of the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) core team and has been deeply involved in development of this emerging standard. His clients include the Argonaut Project, APHL, the National Institute of Standards Technology (NIST), and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC). He has taught several FHIR tutorials, is then principal editor of several widely used HL7 FHIR resources including Observation, DiagnosticReport and ServiceRequest, has authored several guides including The Argonaut Data Query Implementation Guide and US Core Implementation Guide, and participated as the track lead in several FHIR Connectathons.
